Comprehensive Social Service Agency for Adults & Youth
I volunteered at Total Family Support Clinic as a tutor/mentor in their Youth Program. The experience was both fun and enriching as it gave me the opportunity to interact with youth, learn about community improvement efforts, and work with other volunteers who shared an interest in public service.
While my primary duty was to help youth with their schoolwork, I appreciated the many ways that TFSC allowed me to extend my responsibilities. In addition to individual tutoring, I helped lead an interactive presentation on job searching, participated in volunteer recruitment events at a local community college, and assisted with a lesson on teen dating violence for another youth organization outside of TFSC. Additionally, through mixers and potluck gatherings for the volunteers, TFSC strived to create a family within itself.
The passion of the staff to encourage community involvement and individual empowerment is apparent through their energy and effort put into their programs and events. My experience at TFSC has been an inspiring one and I am now pursuing a career in law to be an advocate for youth.

I have volunteered at Total Family Support Clinic for nearly two years. I started at the Sylmar location working in Program Development and Marketing. While with TFSC, I have participated in several community outreach resource fairs in the Sylmar and Long Beach areas, spreading the word about TFSC programs and helping the communities get useful resources from TFSC and other community organizations.
I was a leader in marketing our car wash fundraising event. While spending a wet and wonderful Saturday washing cars and raising much needed funds for our programs with the staff and youth clients. I have also helped with workshops for youth regarding job searching and interview techniques and have helped market and support the new the LGBTQ programs.
Early in 2011, I was one of the first to volunteer with the much needed new Food Distribution program in the down town Los Angeles office.
I am a big advocate for sobriety and healthy living and have a passion to help others. My interest in community and with my interaction and involvement in programs throughout the Los Angeles area through TFSC and others organizations, gives my the opportunity to give back and give hope by helping others.
