It is important for the community to understand more about substance abuse, mental illness, domestic violence, and learn more effective ways of controlling relapse, managing anger and using resources available. TFSC staff conducts free education presentations for the community, including local businesses, community groups, social service providers, healthcare facilities, schools and judiciaries. Topics covered include: 

* Understanding the addictive process
* Signs and symptoms of addiction/drug use
* Cultivating positive coping strategies
* Facilitating sobriety
* Improving functioning

Staff members are also always available to discuss individualized needs.
  
Our Education/Outreach program includes comprehensive substance abuse education that targets youth, adults and families in treatment. TFSC provides a workshop series on a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to: drug education, introduction to 12-Steps and 12 Traditions, anger management, domestic violence, and health education. In addition, other Community Education Programs are available upon request and availability.

TFSC’s Community Education Programs include a variety of services, such as: 

* Family education
* Parenting classes
* Tobacco control 
* Pregnancy prevention 
* Substance abuse 
* HIV/AIDs education and testing

COMMUNITY PARTNERS
TFSC is committed to developing strong relationships in the community to provide families and youth with holistic services that include family counseling, parenting classes, youth drug treatment programs, food distribution, anger management/domestic violence programs and much more. TFSC actively works to strengthen its collaborative network with agencies throughout the community, and has been able to provide referrals to meet the individual’s needs. TFSC remains a pillar in the community – working closely with local government agencies, schools, community-based organizations, and families and individuals throughout Los Angeles County. Community Services
In collaboration with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) the TFSC Long Beach office currently houses a Tri-C Continuation School geared specifically towards youth with behavioral and substance abuse issues. This program allows youth with delinquency issues, behavioral problems, and academic deficiencies to enroll in and complete high school requirements while simultaneously recieving substance abuse treatment services directly 
on-site.

Tri-C Continuation Schools 
TFSC works in collaboration with Sylmar High School administration and staff as well as the Los Angeles Education Partnership (LAEP) which works to engage parents and community, and within schools as a collaborative partner, bringing ideas, resources and expertise to ensure that underserved students have the resources and support they need to succeed. 

 TFSC works closely with students of Sylmar High School and their families to inform and educate the communityabout substance abuse. TFSC is an active participant of the LAEP Sylmar Neighborhood Partnership (SNP), a dynamic collaboration between Sylmar High School students, teachers, administrators, parents, LAUSD Local District 2, and community, government, and faith-based groups in the Valley. Through SNP, Total Family Support Clinic supports community awareness and education. 

TFSC also is an active participant in the Sylmar High School Drug Prevention/Intervention Coalition (DPIC), a collaboration between the school, students, their families,community members, and community organizations to address substance abuse issues in the community. Through DPIC, Total Family Support Clinic supports community outreach, education and prevention efforts through community involvement & public service.
